 | Kayaking for Fitness
The truth of the matter is that kayaking is good for you. Any of the kayaks listed on this site will help develop and strengthen arm, shoulders, back and stomach muscles, provided that you paddle correctly. In fact, we sometimes get customers into our shop who have been advised by their doctor to take up kayaking in order to strengthen an injured shoulder or back.
Despite this we have isolated the following as exceptional training kayaks:
D.A.G. Midway (4.4m) - Lean and fast but stable, the Midway is our best selling sit on top Polyethylene touring kayak. With sea kayak bow, large storage hatch and lean sea-worthy design the Midway is a real winner and well priced.
Bic Sport Scapa (4.4m) - The Scapa has also been built for a good workout. It's lean and fast with soft contours and a velvet finish only found in the Bic Sports range of kayaks. The Scapa is ideally suited for the more experienced paddler as it's tracking is not one of it's finest points. The Scapa comes with an optional clip-on cockpit, which converts your sit-on into a sit-in and can be fitted with a spray deck just as any other sit-in kayak. If you're looking to a truly efficient kayak to get a really good workout then the Bic Sports Scapa is for you.
NEW All Scapas now come standard with 150mm hatch with bag (fitted) Exclusive to Southern Adventures & C-Kayak Australia.
Cobra Eliminator (5.03m) - The Eliminator is super fast. With the classical K1 shape it leaves most other plastic sit-on-top kayaks standing in their tracks. The Eliminator comes standard with a rudder and venturie for quick draining on the move. If you're thinking of getting into racing then the Eliminator is the way to go.
We hope that this interactive guide has been useful to you and that you realize that we are dedicated to ensuring that you get the right kayak for your specific needs.
