Kayaking for Exercise :: Kayaks are excellent for fitness training and healthy exercise

Kayaking for Fitness

The truth of the matter is that kayaking is good for you. Any of the kayaks listed on this site will help develop and strengthen arm, shoulders, back and stomach muscles, provided that you paddle correctly. In fact, we sometimes get customers into our shop who have been advised by their doctor to take up kayaking in order to strengthen an injured shoulder or back.

Despite this we have isolated the following as exceptional training kayaks:

D.A.G. Midway (4.4m)

midway kayak - Lean and fast but stable, the Midway is our best selling sit on top Polyethylene touring kayak. With sea kayak bow, large storage hatch and lean sea-worthy design the Midway is a real winner and well priced.

Cobra Eliminator (5.03m)

Cobra Eliminator - The Eliminator is super fast. With the classical K1 shape it leaves most other plastic sit-on-top kayaks standing in their tracks. The Eliminator comes standard with a rudder and venturie for quick draining on the move. If you're thinking of getting into racing then the Eliminator is the way to go.

Ocean Kayak Sprinter (5.2m)

Sprinter - The Sprinter is lean and fast. Also ideal for a fast workout or covering long distance with utmost efficiency.

Hurricane Category 5 (4.6m)

Hurricane Category 5 Kayak - The Category 5 is aptly named after the Category 5 Hurricane - the fastest, most ferocious of all. Made of thermoformed ABS plastic the Category 5 is lightweight but tough (only 19kg). This kayak is a very modern design and combines the speed and efficiency of a traditional K1 with the comfort and stability of a touring kayak. The Category 5 is referred by some as a multi-sport kayak, ideal for triathletes wanting a fast but durable kayak for the paddle section of their race.

Point 65'N XP18 (5.49m)

XP18 - The XP18 is our fastest kayak. This unique hull shape combines the lines of a traditional sit-on-top surf ski with the comfort and stability of a sea kayak. Stable for its width the XP18 is still not suitable for the absolute beginner, but for the seasoned paddler this craft will offer speed not encountered amongst other kayaks of similar length. Thinking of doing the Hawkesbury Classic, or the Murray River Marathon - then look no further!
